At our school, we believe that home learning plays an important role in supporting students' academic success and personal development. We expect all students to complete home learning regularly and to the best of their ability.
Home learning is designed to help students:
- Develop independent study skills

- Build self-discipline and personal responsibility
- Consolidate and extend classroom learning
- Increase levels of attainment and academic confidence
Home learning may take a variety of forms, including:
- Learning key facts, definitions and concepts using knowledge organisers and flashcards
- Practising and consolidating classroom learning through online platforms such as Sparx and Seneca

Home Learning Platforms
Sparx Maths, Sparx Science and Sparx Reader
- Homework is set and submitted automatically through the relevant Sparx platform.
- Students and parents will receive reminders regarding incomplete work.
- Students can access these platforms via the website or app using their Microsoft login for all areas.
Other Subjects
- Home learning will be recorded on Arbor.
- Students must mark tasks as completed once they have finished them.
- Some subjects, including Humanities and PE, may use the Seneca platform to support learning.
Rewards
We recognise and celebrate students who regularly complete home learning to the expected standard.
Students will receive praise points for successful completion of home learning. These points can be exchanged through the school's rewards shop for a variety of items, including stationery and sports equipment.
Sanctions
If a student does not complete a home learning task:
- A behaviour point will be recorded by the class teacher.
- Parents and carers will be able to view this through the Arbor app.
- Students who repeatedly fail to complete home learning will be required to attend a lunchtime support session.
- Failure to attend this session may result in further sanctions.
We greatly appreciate the support of parents and carers in helping students establish positive study habits and routines at home. By working together, we can ensure that every student develops the skills and knowledge needed to achieve their full potential.
If you have any questions regarding home learning expectations, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s form tutor in the first instance.
