The course is suitable for passionate, dedicated musicians interested in developing their performance, music theory, and industry knowledge to progress to higher education or a career in the music sector
The course is designed to provide learners with a good introduction to the sector with a focus on performance including musical skills development and professional practice. The course will suit learners who enjoy performing, composing and learning about a range of styles of music.
The course is assessed through a combination of internally assessed coursework, which includes practical assignments, presentations, and project work, and externally assessed components. Grading for individual units and the overall qualification uses a Pass, Merit, Distinction scale, where the depth of study and practical skills acquired contribute to the final grade.

After studying a BTEC Extended Certificate in Music Performance, you can progress to higher education (degree or Higher National Diploma), move into a specialised job role in the music sector, or combine it with other qualifications to broaden your options. The BTEC provides a strong foundation in music performance skills and knowledge of the industry, preparing you for various career paths in music.
